The position entails obtaining the animals from HQ in Sussex County, bringing them to the contracted event and performing our three-part program including a feeding demonstration with a frozen thawed prey item, as well as hands-on and Q&A session with the guests.
The right candidate will have the following characteristics:
- #1 MUST BE RELIABLE AND REGULARLY AVAILABLE -MUST BE GREAT WITH KIDS we are largely entertainers and often work with young children - this includes the ability to transition quickly, e.
g.
if a group of four-year-olds is not terribly interested in the educational portion, a good presenter can read that, and move quickly to the hands-on and feeding demonstration.
-Comfortability handling snakes large and small -Base knowledge of or at least interest in snakes and reptiles or be a fast learner with a desire to do so, especially of NJ wildlife and habitats.
This can be learned very quickly if you are interested in learning it.
-Must have the heart of a teacher, someone who wants to educate as well as entertain.
-Must be cool under pressure and able to solve problems on the go - we work with schools, scouts, private parties, JCCs, hospitals, special needs institutions, etc.
Programs have a general flow, but every program is different and can have curve balls.
The right person has the ability to take things in stride and provide solutions for the client.
REQUIREMENTS:
Over 18 years of age Must have reliable transportation to HQ and events Compensation Presenters are paid as 1099 independent contractors Payment is by the program and is made within 24 hours of completion.
Travel reimbursement is provided for long-distance or high-toll areas, i.
