Program Manager Job Description Summary Job Description The Program Manager is responsible for leading a cross-functional core team, and its extended team members, in development of injection products that help people with diabetes live healthier lives.
Scope includes new major initiatives or major product development programs within the Diabetes Care business unit.
The Program Manager is ultimately responsible for the execution, quality and results of her or his project and the commercial success of the resulting product in the market.
The Program Manager is responsible for the creation of the program plans, integrated business plans and product requirements.
S/he, in close partnership with her/his core team members, develops the cross-functional strategies for the project and manages day-to-day execution of these and supporting strategies.
S/he also manages the related activities of team members, tracks progress against plan, manages the project budget, identifies project risks and provides plans to mitigate those risks.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIESResponsibilities include:
Leading new product development programs or new initiatives within Diabetes CareInfluence technical and business direction of the programLeading the creation of the cross-functional project plan, including budget and resource planning, to fulfill the product concept.
Planning resource requirements and negotiating team resource assignments with functional managersMotivate and organize a large cross functional teamAligning and managing all cross-functional activities to deliver the product on time and on budget per contract while meeting all agreed upon technical, operational, business and customer requirements.
Negotiating, resolving personal/team conflicts and project/functional conflicts, and driving achievement of project and business goalsSuccessfully tracking progress to requirements, plan and resolve deviationsProviding work definition and direction to the assigned cross-functional Core Team Members.
Conducting successful commercial, design, and business project reviews; making the leadership team aware of, and proposing solutions to, unanticipated or potential issues/concerns as soon as they are known.
Collaborating with the platform and commercial teams in driving a successful product launch.
Providing accurate and timely reporting of program progressContributing to the continuous improvement in organization's ability to execute programs and projects from initiation through launch.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCESuccessful track record of developing medical products and delivering to market.
Deep understanding of disciplined product/technology development processes (Phase/Gate product development method), regulatory and quality requirements, high-volume manufacturing.

years experience in successfully executing cross-functional product development teams preferred.
Successful experience working with outside contract development groups and the ultimate transfer to internal resources for a successful product launch.
Communication of complex technical and business topics to senior leadership teamsMust be a skilled and determined communicator and negotiator.
Must have strong leadership skills and be very relationship and collaborative orientedWorking knowledge of regulatory standards (e.
g.
IEC 60601, ISO14971, ISO 13485); system level V&V planning and execution.
Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma Methodology and DFX.
Excellent verbal and writing skills as well as presentation expertise to senior level leadership.
Organizational awareness and ability to garner support at all levels for a course of action.
Strong motivational fit.
Travel:
Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time; occasional international travel will be required.
